Joel Johannesen is a conservative thinker, advocate, political analyst, and business man

Joel Johannesen is a politically conservative thinker and advocate, an astute political analyst, writer and editor, and a business man.

In 2000, Johannesen founded the popular Web site "ProudToBeCanadian", which he also edits. ProudToBeCanadian, or "PTBC" as it is also known, is a politically conservative advocacy Web site, featuring several conservative or conservative-tolerant columnists, and a blog written by Johannesen himself. While Canadian-based and so named, it focusses on both American and Canadian politics and culture.

The ProudToBeCanadian web site's columnist "team", members of which all agreed to includes their name and writing in the pages of PTBC, include such well-known political authors, media pundits, and columnists as the multiple New York Times best-selling author Ann Coulter (since 2003), making PTBC the only Canadian journal hosting Coulter's sometimes controversial syndicated column. Other columnists include David Warren, Salim Mansur, Mike Adams, Doug Giles, Barbara Kay, and several other conservative-minded columnists. The site has also included the columns of John Stossel, Dennis Prager, but those columns have been discontinued for the time being.

The PTBC site was spawned from a popular Canadian section on Johannesen's earlier, very popular social-networking Web site called "NotNaked.com". NotNaked.com was a discussion forum-based site founded in the late-1990s as a counter to what Johannesen perceived as an increasingly annoying and dangerous trend toward an Internet filled with lewd and pornographic -- i.e., naked -- content, which regular people and families could too easily stumble upon unwillingly. NotNaked.com was to serve as a reliable respite from that. NotNaked.com was itself spawned from a popular social-networking Web site Johannesen started in the mid 1990s with his wife, called "JoJoJo.com" -- so named to play on the first two letters in their first and last names.

Johannesen is also the founder and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of JoelTRON Corporation, a privately-owned Internet services company which owns and operates several Internet properties and Web sites.

Johannesen is a former stock broker and executive in the financial services industry. He studied at the University of Victoria. He lives in a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with his wife.
